Your Score: Katharine Hepburn You scored 28% grit, 19% wit, 38% flair, and 26% class! You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.
Find out what kind of classic leading man you'd make by taking the Classic Leading Man Test.

9:24am: Update *warning contains whinging**
Not a lot to report really. Popped into the Crown for quick drink on Thursday(as ever did not stick to this plan) & bumped into Smokey, Merlin & some others. Had a fun evening talking about random things. Latest update in the car saga - have taken it to a third garage & have another long lists of faults. Three garages have now also confirmed the exhaust is screwed but dealer refuses to accept this. I have now had to resort to sending them a letter giving them 14 days to cough up some cash towards repairs or give me a refund. If this fails, I will be taking matters to Court (as we have a legal protection policy it wont cost me anything). Car is currently parked up outside - as it is likely to be the subject of a legal battle, I cant actually drive it at all (given the list of things wrong, probably not a bad thing anyway). Having a quite weekend in as I dont really feel up to doing much. I have yucky mouth ulcers which have caused my lip to swell and am getting fed up with jokes about being punched in the mouth. Thanks people, I know it looks bad, it feels pretty painful too and if one more person makes that joke I may be punching other people in the mouth. Gr. Better news - my YouGov account has recently reached £50 and I have now received their cheque. Yey, £50 free cash. I may now wander off to Amazon to see what I can spend it on.

8:47pm:
Not an awful lot going on this weekend. Went out on Friday to the Crown and then to the Hatch. Friday nights do seem to be missing a certain something now though. We had hoped to make it out on Saturday night but it didn't quite happen. Car stuff - Picked it up on Tuesday - They have fitted a new part to the exhaust, fitted a bulb, and replaced the brake pads. They reckon all the other problems were caused by NW looking for things to fix. Took car out for a drive over the weekend - Much quieter, but still seems a bit wibbly at speeds but I'm not sure if thats due to me being paranoid now. So all seems to be OK but I am still thinking about getting yet another garage to have a look. I think it may also be worth while changing the cambelt on it.

12:53pm: Ye car saga continuth...
Took the car back to the garage this morning armed with list of problems - They are going to take the car to their mechanic on Tuesday and should be getting most of the items fixed. Get the feeling they may well argue about the exhaust as their worrying comment on this was "exhausts can look bad but still be serviceable, you cant tell if theres a problem until it falls off!" And there was me thinking that maintenance was to prevent things getting to the dropping off stage. Current plan is to see what they come back with on Tuesday - if we are still not happy with the exhaust we will take it to an exhaust place for a third opinion. On Thursday I was all up for insisting they take the car back but thinking about it, I really like the car and dont want the additional hassle of finding a new one and having to pay another £35 to change the insurance over. So long as they get everything fixed, I'll be happy to take it back. K was taking notes in the garage which seemed to keep them being quite agreeable to our point of view! On the way back we stopped in at Sazz on North St and had a Turkish breakfast which was lovely. Turkish sausage, eggs, pepper and cheese served with bread. Bit like an omlett really but still very nice. I also tried the Turkish coffee which was strong (good) but overly sweet for my liking. Nice place though and makes a change from the usual full English.

6:09pm: A non-car related post!
Had the news on in the background and heard a lot a girls screaming. Looked up to see what the fuss was about. People had been camping out over night, pushing, screaming going absolutely mental. I watched with curiosity to see what the big attraction was perhaps some well know pop/film star? Turns out it was *drum roll** A new Primark store on Oxford St! WTF!! People going mental over a cheapo clothes shop!! One of the stupidest things I've seen in ages.

11:52am: Bah to garages
Took the car in on Tuesday for a service and still havent had it back. They said it would take most of the day fair enough & then rang at 6 to say they had found several areas of work & they would ring back in the morning with a full quote. They rang & said they would ring back at lunch time - heard nothing so rang again and was told person dealing had gone home and would ring me in the morning. Rang this morning - person had gone out & would ring back within the hour - Over an hour later they ring back with a rather pricy list. I asked when I could get my car & they said it would be ready at 4:30! They stopped servicing it whilst they priced up the repairs. They also said they could have all the repairs done by Saturday. At which point I told them I was very unhappy they have screwed up our holiday by keeping our car for 3 days, they dont ring back when they say the will & have no confidence left in them. They said they would try & get the car back quicker but I am not holding my breath. It's also frustrating as it means its unlikely I can get the car to another garage this week. Grrr.

1:52pm: Verdict from the car hospital :(
The car is poorly :( Garage 1 - serviced car & has given an estimate of £700/£800 for repairs - Currently waiting for them to give me a full break down of this. Exhaust needs completely replacing - Having checked with a few other garages, they seem to think that is likely only part of the exhaust needs replacing so looking to get a second opinion. Front brake pads worn - Pretty concerned about this & will get done ASAP Radiator - AGain may seek another opinion as I may be able to patch this up. Garage 2 quoted me £718 for the all the above works (based on cost of replacing all the exhaust parts & they have broken down the price of each indivdual part. Garage 3 - Quoted about £318 for all the above. Other problems include headlamp bulb & wipers but I can sort these out myself. Bah. Going to be expensive and cant even claim on warranty as none of these things qualify as engine or gear box.

3:20pm: New Toy
Picked up our nice new car on Friday so have been pottering around, getting used to her. Had a near miss with a speed camera - I thought I was only doing 20mph but it seemed a bit fast - turns out I was looking at the rev counter, not the speedo. Oops! Really nice drive and nice purr from a lovely modern engine. So much easier to maneuver as well. I had to get out of a tight parking spot which I was thought was going to be tough - with the power steering it was easy! Yey! I like our new car :) Have to take her back to the garage tomorrow though but only so they can fix the back passenger door. When driving on Friday, got to about 50mph & there was an odd squeaking noise coming from the engine which was somewhat disturbing. Everything seems OK under the bonnet - Brian thinks it might be due to the petrol being practically drained & hence all the grotty bits are going through the engine and it should be OK now i have filled it up. Took a drive up the portway - all seems to be OK & no more noise so looks like he was right. At least I have a warranty in case it is something else. We have settled on a name for her so welcome home Betty mark 2. Not very imaginative I know but nothing else really fits.

6:13pm: and Hello ?
I get my bonus on Friday and have already blown it. On a new car! Yey! The new arrival is a metallic blue Peugeot 206 X reg with lots of new toys. She is lovely! Really nice to drive as well, although power steering now feels really strange. Can't wait til Friday when we pick her up. Just need to think of a name for her.

6:07pm: Bye bye Betty:(
Our little Clio is going to the great scrapheap in the sky (unless she is lucky & someone buys her). She has been a fab first car - cheap to buy, cheap to run & very few running problems, aside from minor faults like batteries and fuses. I thought I'd never get used to driving her after being used to power steering but now any other car seems very strange. I hope someone gives a new home.

11:19pm: Yey! Signed book on its way!
I have ordered a copy of the delux roleplaying book for a Song of Ice & Fire. Yeah I know, I'm not a roleplaying fan. But it is a huge book, with lots of artwork & background & very good quality. The best bit is that George R Martin will be signing it for me! Yey! Will have to do as my fix until he gets round to finishing the next book. I am also really chuffed, as to order, I had to email him direct - I got a personal response within 15 minutes. I am very impressed, and will keep the email for evermore. (although the cynic in me says it might just be someone else answering on his behalf) I dont really care though - I'm still pleased. It's one of the reasons I like GRRM - One of the few authors who is happy to communicate with his fans, I don't know of any other authors who would send an open invitation to all his fans to meet up for a pizza crawl!

Only had half an hour for lunch which I thought was ample time for the simple task of purchasing a birthday card. Unfortunately, every card shop in town was jam packed full of people worshiping at the alter of St Hallmark and the mission was abandoned. Bah.

Hmph. Well I dont believe in hell & I dont think my morals that are that exceptional. Still I guess cartographer of hell is pretty cool. | You scored as Dante Alighieri. According to you most of humanity will spend at least some of their afterlife in hell. You have a high likelihood of being exiled, but anyone as bloody fucking romantic as you deserves what they get. You have an exceptional moral code, overshadowed by the fact that you yourself cannot uphold it.
Your existence bears a definite irony, although of fairly Christian morality, many pagans, satanists, communists, and intellectuals admire you and your works for all the wrong reasons.
Also, the brighest star in your sky is never going to be your lover...
It takes a lot of grief to be the cartographer of hell.

8:29am: Last post from the lone wolf!!
My last day as Ms W! Tomorrow I will be a Mrs! It's going to feel quite strange & will take some getting used to. Glad to say that I dont really feel nervous about marrying Mithy (just a bit wibbly in case I start a mad giggling fit whilst exchanging vows!). I am looking forward to being his wife. Eek, more weirdness, me a wife! Majority of our preparations are now done. My dress has arrived & is safely at my mum's as are the bridesmaid dresses. B_hinds has kindly offered to decorate for the evening & has been given all the bits. I got my last few bits & bobs yesterday, although a huge golf umbrella wasnt originally on my list of must have wedding accessories! Today will just be packing the last few bits, making sure house is tidy & presentable & delivering last minute invites. I also have a lady coming round to give me a manicure (v.girly for me) I'd probably best get off the computer & start getting ready. So here ends my last LJ post as a single woman.

Yey, I finally have my wedding dress, it fits & is lovely :) Very happy now. Also happy because it is my last day in work for weeks yey! Am now starting to get really excited. Only downside it that it looks like the weather will be bad, bah. Oh well, guess I have to get a huge brolly at lunchtime. I am currently sitting surrounded by balloons & banners which is slightly embarasing, sweet thought though.

Have just been told one of the ladies at work has lost her husband. It was very unexpected. He was out cycling with his club on Sunday & fell off his bike. Seemed OK Sunday night & Monday morning, and then his parents came to see him in the afternoon & found him dead. Such a sad, sad thing to happen. We are all clubbing together to buy her a card & some flowers but what can you really say in situations like these?
